Handel’s Semele, Carnegie Hall

Semele was met with enthusiastic ovations on Sunday at Carnegie Hall, where it received a marvellous concert performance by the English Concert, a superb period instrument orchestra whose annual spring visit to Carnegie is a must for Handel-lovers. They were joined by the aptly named Clarion Choir (Steven Fox, artistic director) and six splendid soloists, all led by the conductor Harry Bicket.”
